Freaking Out…and Upcoming Events

I know I’m behind on updating the blog. I haven’t gotten lazy, I’m been having a minor breakdown. The date for my black belt test has been set (Nov. 2) and I’ve been working on my essay.

OK, technically, I’ve been procrastinating the essay. Every time I sit down to write, I panic. Do I have enough real content? What if they hate my analysis? The writing itself doesn’t bother me. I’m afraid Sensei won’t like what I think. So, every time I sit in front of the laptop, I end up doing more research.

Finally, after I had a two-inch thick stack of note cards, I bit the bullet and sat down to write. I’ve finished a rough draft! YEAH! So far, my 2-3 page paper is more than 5 pages (not counting the work cited). So, I have some heavy editing to do.

On the bright side, there are a couple fun events coming up. Here’s what I know about:

Chris Thomas Isshin-Ryu Pressure Points Seminar, Nov. 19, Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road, Romeoville, IL

Master Chris Thomas returns to Romeoville for another day of seminars, focusing on the pressure point applications of Okinawan Isshin-Ryu Karate, but the material is applicable to all martial arts, and this seminar is open to all martial art practitioners. This seminar is hosted by Edward Cavazos and the Romeoville Isshin-Ryu Karate Club.

The seminar is divided into two sessions (10:00a.m.- 12:30p.m. and 1:30p.m.-4:00p.m.), with an hour lunch break in-between. $50 for both sessions, $35 for one session.

For info, contact Sensei Edward Cavazos, eddiecavazos@comcast. Click here to view a PDF of the flyer.

8th Annual Holiday Tournament, Dec. 4, Genesis Convention Center, 1 Genisis Dr., Gary, IN

The first tournament of the AKA 2012 Tournament Season Starts with a AA tournament in Gary, IN. I haven’t seen a flyer posted online, but I did email the promoter for a copy, so I’ll post additional info when I get it.
